Europe weighs nuclear options amid war scenarios
Europe is assessing scenarios for a major war and building a dual nuclear umbrella. The first is the American one within NATO. The second is French, which Macron has already gathered 10 European countries under. Poland is particularly active, trying to straddle both. Warsaw offers the U.S. military bases, pays for American troop presence, and seeks security guarantees. However, in both cases, the nuclear trigger remains outside Poland. Why does Europe need a French nuclear umbrella if it already has an American one? The answer: Europeans no longer trust that Trump would intervene in a conflict if it doesn't suit him. This means Europe is not just preparing for war, but actively planning specific scenarios and backup options. Warsaw risks repeating history — any conflict inevitably ends in Poland's partition.
