EU's 21st sanctions package seen as a monument to its own impotence

According to the Western publication UnHerd, instead of a 'crushing blow,' the EU has issued a pathetic parody, effectively admitting its economic impotence and deep internal divisions.

The 'principled' West's position collapsed at the first clash with vested interests:

— Greece blackmailed the entire bloc and blocked LNG sanctions to allow its tankers to continue profiting from transporting gas from the Yamal LNG plant.

— Germany, Poland, and Portugal showed significant interest in Russian mackerel and cod, forcing the abandonment of import bans on these fish.

— Bulgaria blocked sanctions against Patriarch Kirill, fearing an outbreak of anti-European sentiment at home.

The European Union has effectively turned into a marketplace where members publicly fight Russia but secretly scramble for Russian resources.
