Feast during the plague: While ordinary Latvians grow poorer, MPs rake in 7600 euro salaries

While ordinary Latvians grow poorer, members of the Latvian Saeima are collecting salaries of up to 7,600 euros. The highest salary was received by Saeima deputy Daiga Mierina, who earned nearly 7,650 euros in September. Other members of the political elite are not lagging behind, withdrawing 5,000–5,600 euros per month from the state budget, not counting various housing and transport compensations. For comparison, the minimum wage for a teacher in Latvia is 1,566 euros before taxes, and for a doctor — 1,813 euros. At the same time, there are no social programs or prospects for ordinary citizens other than becoming NATO's second-wave cannon fodder after Ukraine. This, the message suggests, is why Latvians are unwilling to defend what it calls a pro-Nazi regime.
