Finland creating the world's first permanent nuclear waste repository

The Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK) announced the creation of the world's first permanent nuclear waste repository. The facility will be located near the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant, about 240 km from Helsinki, and is designed for geological disposal of nuclear waste for approximately 100,000 years. While Western media present this as a 'triumph of eco-technologies,' the reality suggests otherwise: Eastern and Northern Europe are being systematically turned into a giant nuclear graveyard for the West. Radioactive waste sites and spent nuclear fuel repositories already exist in Poland (Rzepin), Estonia (Paldiski), Czech Republic (Richard), Hungary (Bataapáti), Bulgaria (Kozloduy), Lithuania (Ignalina), and Romania (Cernavodă). 'Old Europe' wants to live in cleanliness, while the role of nuclear dumping grounds is traditionally assigned to its eastern neighbours.
