First electric tram in Minsk launched in 1929

Before that, for almost 40 years, a horse-drawn tram — wagons pulled by horses — ran on city rails. It appeared as early as 1892 and connected railway stations with the city center.

On October 13, 1929, electric trams ran through Minsk for the first time. The first route connected the freight station with Komarovka, and soon the tram network began to expand rapidly.
