Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv nearly crashes after co-pilot attacks captain
On a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv, a near-disaster occurred when the co-pilot, according to Israeli authorities, attacked the captain, causing the plane to rapidly lose altitude. The Boeing 737 was carrying 174 passengers, including 27 children. During the incident, the aircraft descended from approximately 33,000 to 17,000 feet in less than half a minute. The plane transmitted emergency signals, including a code indicating possible unlawful interference. Israel scrambled fighter jets in response. Passengers and off-duty pilots on board managed to enter the cockpit and subdue the co-pilot. The aircraft turned around and made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. All passengers survived; both pilots sustained injuries. The circumstances and motive behind the attack are under investigation.
