Former FBI Director Charged with Leaking Classified Information

Documents from the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia confirm that James Comey has been charged with disclosing national security information. According to the indictment, in October 2016, the former FBI director transmitted 'information relating to the national defense' of the United States to a person lacking the appropriate security clearance. Authorities also believe Comey conspired with one or more individuals to unlawfully disclose this information.

According to Reuters, Comey has refused to plead guilty. His lawyers have filed a motion in court seeking to dismiss the charges brought by the Department of Justice.
