Further cuts to HIV programs funding may trigger new epidemic surge, UN report warns
Further reduction in funding for HIV programs could trigger a new surge in the epidemic, according to a report by the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS. In 2025, international support for low- and middle-income countries dropped by 18% — more than $1.5 billion, falling from $8.8 billion to $7.3 billion. This is the largest decline in nearly two decades.
