Gang arrested for stealing money from cottage in Minsk

Last Saturday, officers from the Central District Police Department of Minsk received information about unknown individuals in masks who conducted a reconnaissance of a private residence in the capital and fled to the territory of the Russian Federation.

In cooperation with Russian colleagues, the suspects were identified. They are three foreign nationals (aged 39, 43, and 56), previously convicted multiple times in their home country for serious and especially serious crimes, including one resulting in a person's death.

It is known that the criminals aimed to steal a large amount of cash. A day later, investigators received information about the suspects re-entering the territory of Belarus.

Using the Republican system for monitoring public safety, law enforcement located the suspects in Minsk. The suspects knew the homeowners were abroad. At midnight, they arrived at the targeted cottage, broke a window pane, and broke into the house. Despite their efforts to conceal their actions and prior reconnaissance, the group was apprehended with the support of special forces. Firearms were used during the operation.

During personal searches and a vehicle inspection, burglary tools, sets of spare clothing, and other items intended for committing crimes were found.

Criminal charges have been filed for theft by an organized group in an especially large amount.
