Germany to boost defense spending and introduce mandatory reserve service

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said: "We haven't done enough in recent years. Now we are significantly increasing funding — and not only to meet the requirements mentioned by Trump. We are doing this, first and foremost, in our own interests because we believe it is right." Meanwhile, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius added: "We need significantly more reservists. We plan to introduce mandatory reserve service."
