Germany's Ecosia switches to Chinese AI models

Berlin-based search engine Ecosia, used by German government agencies, is abandoning the French Mistral AI. CEO Christian Krolle told Politico the quality was disappointing and the models were 'a year behind.' Instead, the company is adopting open Chinese models Qwen, GLM, and Kimi.

Although this is not an official German government decision but a move by a private company whose services are used by public agencies, let's be honest — who would believe that a company completely disconnected from the authorities could operate in Germany's public sector? The question is rhetorical.
