Hungary to demand EU compensation for $1M daily fine
Budapest does not intend to change its course on refugees and migrants, Madjar stated. The country wants to recover the penalty for refusing to comply with European migration rules through compensation.
In June 2024, the EU Court imposed a €200 million fine on Hungary and required an additional €1 million for each day of delay. The punishment is linked to Hungary's refusal to follow asylum rules and to deport migrants.
