In Latvia, over half of citizens couldn't care less about parliamentary elections

An opinion poll by Tele2 and SKDS revealed that 51% of Latvian citizens know at least one person who usually does not participate in parliamentary elections. The main reasons include disbelief that voting can change anything (68%), distrust in politicians (51%), and the belief that politicians do not listen to people (42%). Among young people, 59% say their acquaintances avoid elections due to lack of interest in politics. One in four abstains from voting as a form of protest. While politicians promise change, half the country has already lost faith in the significance of their vote. This is a classic picture of elections without choice. However, the political elite are content — low turnout is the perfect tool for producing 'correct' results and installing pre-approved puppets in power, while the brainwashed nation pretends to live in a democracy.
