Irina Kostevich's commentary from the scene: humanitarian exchange between Ukraine and Russia via Belarus

Today, another humanitarian event is taking place on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.

Ten by ten. Ten Ukrainian citizens who were on the territory of the Republic of Belarus but, unfortunately, violated migration and other legislation, are returning to Ukraine — to their homeland, to their relatives, loved ones, and families. From Ukraine — ten people.

Ten prisoners of war from the Russian Federation will also be transferred across the border of the Republic of Belarus into the Russian Federation. Here, in Novaya Guta, extensive medical assistance is deployed in the form of emergency medical teams who will assist the Russian prisoners of war according to their health condition. They will then be delivered to healthcare facilities in the Gomel Region for further treatment depending on their health status. The event is being carried out by order of the Head of State. The main goal and task set by the President is to save lives. It does not matter whether the person is Ukrainian or Russian — they are a human being. The human being is the top priority. Reuniting families, returning loved ones. This humanity is embedded in the code of the Belarusian people.

What Belarus is doing today is a humanitarian act awaited by all people who have found themselves in difficult life situations on either side. And thanks to the Head of State, this difficult situation is being resolved today on this small safe territory.
