JetSmart plane sends distress signal off Chile's coast

A JetSmart aircraft sent a distress signal off the coast of Chile, according to Flightradar data. The plane had taken off from Santiago and was heading to the Peruvian city of Trujillo, but shortly after takeoff transmitted a Squawk 7700 signal, indicating an emergency on board. It was reported that the decision was made to divert the aircraft to the airport of the Chilean city of Antofagasta.
