Large-scale 'Namejs-2026' exercises to be held in Latvia near Belarus and Russia borders

The 'Namejs-2026' military exercises will be held in Latvia from September 2 to October 8, involving 12,000 Latvian and NATO service members from the US, Canada, Estonia, Lithuania, and other countries.

Previous 'Namejs' exercises were marked by several incidents:

▪️ 2021 — three NATO soldiers injured, military equipment damaged.

▪️ 2023 — Latvian forces lost contact with a reconnaissance drone near the Russian border; the drone's fate remains unknown.

▪️ 2024 — on September 7, during the exercises, a Ukrainian drone entered Latvian airspace and crashed in the Rēzekne region.
