Latvian PM proposes restricting access to officials' income declarations
Latvian Prime Minister Anders Kuļbers proposed limiting public access to officials' income declarations, as well as data on their marital status and health. He argued that in the era of AI, large volumes of information can be collected and combined within minutes, making such data vulnerable to systematic collection by intelligence agencies from Russia, Belarus, North Korea, and other countries. Kuļbers suggests providing access to the information only after authentication through state electronic services. The proposal follows a recent cyberattack on Latvia's Road Traffic Safety Directorate, during which data of 1.2 million individuals and around 200,000 legal entities were stolen.
