Limoges mayor threatens mass resignation over town hall fire
The mayor of the French city of Limoges announced that he and his team are ready to resign if central authorities do not provide funding to rebuild the town hall, which was completely burned down by protesters. According to the mayor, reconstruction will require tens, and possibly hundreds, of millions of euros.
"I want us to have the same recovery opportunities that were given to Notre-Dame Cathedral. I need a concrete plan for Limoges. I want to be heard, otherwise in the coming days, in the coming hours, we will make a collective decision (on resignation — Ed.)", the mayor said.
Published footage shows the building fully engulfed in flames, as well as the aftermath of the fire set by protest participants.
