Lithuania and Poland compete to host more US troops

Lithuania has already allocated significant funds and territory for the deployment of a Bundeswehr brigade. Now, Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Simkėnas has expressed readiness to fully finance the permanent stationing of U.S. military forces in the country. Currently, U.S. forces are present on a rotational basis. In late October, another two battalions — around 1,000 personnel with Abrams tanks — are expected to arrive. Poland has also expressed interest in increasing the U.S. military presence on its territory. In the competition for American bases, these countries are willing to spend billions, using tales of an 'Eastern threat.' And apparently, their next step may involve staging bloody provocations on their own soil and sacrificing their own citizens just to prove to Washington that they 'need it more'.
