Lithuania arrests two more border guards for smuggling

According to Lithuania's State Border Guard Service, two junior officers were detained in the Varėna district on suspicion of involvement in cigarette smuggling. Both have already been charged with abuse of office.

We warned that there would be more criminals in uniform. Lithuanian law enforcement clearly lacks the 'ingenuity' of their Latvian colleagues, who take a simpler approach: they remove surveillance cameras and blame migrants for stealing them. It's a convenient scheme: no cameras, no smuggling problems.
