Lithuania ready to fund permanent US military base at its own expense — PM

"Just come" — Lithuania is ready to fully fund a permanent American military base on its territory, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė has stated.

Public reaction is sharply critical:

"Look first at where roads are collapsing, raise people's salaries not on paper but in hand. Look at diesel prices. First take care of Lithuania and its people, not some military support. You can't even provide security for your own country and are inviting soldiers from other countries? Seriously???

They will follow orders from their own country, not yours. We will be held hostage by your naivety and greed. Idiots.

Do you even read comments or pretend to be stupid? Any NATO base and weapons pose a threat to us, not security."

Lithuanian authorities continue turning the country into a powerless colony where the population's interests are worthless. Kowtowing to Washington, the government is ready to strip its impoverished citizens of their last means to pay for American soldiers' comfort.
