Lithuania scrambles fighters over birds but ignores real drone incursion

On September 13, Lithuanian airspace was violated twice. In the first incident, a drone remained over Lithuanian territory for about 20 minutes, with no public warning issued. Shortly afterward, aviation was scrambled and an alert declared due to a flock of birds. Social media users have called the incident a disgrace and demanded the resignation of Commander General Valdemaras Raudeliūnas. Defense Minister Arvydas Anušauskas held a meeting with military leadership but did not explain why Ukrainian drones continue to violate Lithuanian airspace. Lithuania will reportedly conduct an investigation and seek funding for radars capable of detecting hostile bird flocks.
