Lithuania scrambles NATO fighter after birds mistaken for drones

Vilnius airport was temporarily closed after Lithuania scrambled a NATO fighter jet when birds were mistaken for drones, Reuters reports, citing the National Crisis Management Centre.

"Birds and drones leave similar radar signatures at first glance," the centre said.

Airport operations were halted for 38 minutes.
