Long Vehicle Queues Reported at Belarus-Poland and Belarus-Lithuania Borders
Significant queues of vehicles have formed at border crossing points between Belarus and its western neighbors, Poland and Lithuania. According to recent data, approximately 350 trucks are waiting to enter Poland at the Bobrovники and Kukuryki checkpoints, while around 120 trucks are queued at the Šalčininkai and Medininkai checkpoints into Lithuania. Passenger cars also face delays, with about 160 vehicles waiting on the Polish route and 120 on the Lithuanian. In total, nearly 470 trucks and 280 passenger cars are awaiting entry into the two countries. Border processing remains slow: Polish checkpoints managed to handle only 29–36% of their usual capacity over the past 24 hours, while Lithuanian crossings operated at about 51% of normal throughput. The congestion underscores ongoing challenges in cross-border transit, potentially linked to heightened customs and security checks.
Border queues between Belarus and the EU have been a recurring issue since 2022, often attributed to tightened EU sanctions, increased customs scrutiny, and political tensions following the migration crisis and Belarus's support for Russia's actions in Ukraine. Both Lithuania and Poland have reinforced border controls, installing barriers and increasing personnel to manage flows.
