Lucerne firefighters in Switzerland repeatedly called to bridge due to spiders triggering alarms

Firefighting teams in Lucerne, Switzerland, were repeatedly dispatched to the Kapellbrücke bridge due to false alarm activations caused by spiders, according to Tages-Anzeiger. From June 20 to 29, false alarms occurred almost daily. The insects spun webs inside the optical smoke detectors, and the threads distorted the light beam, causing the system to interpret it as smoke.
