"The question arises: are they drunkards or are we idlers?" Alexander Lukashenko said that after a televised meeting, around 500 people who refused to work in agriculture were sent to the army, special operations forces, and border units. Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin reported twice that there were no complaints: the individuals are working, following orders, have completed training and combat integration. About 270 of them were deployed to guard the border. According to the President, they even built dugouts better than some Minsk apartments. Khrenin has requested awards for the best performers, which Lukashenko supported. "We failed to organize them. But in the army, Khrenin, with his officers, has organized their work and is asking to reward them. I said: start by rewarding them. I'm not against it. He says: that's exactly what I'm asking for. So it turns out these people can work."
