Lukashenko outlines key points of Brest Electrolamp Plant development strategy

The head of state noted that a favorable economic situation has emerged, allowing Brest Electrolamp Plant (BELZ) to compete in the market if certain conditions are met. First, the modernization process must be completed with maximum automation and robotization of all operations. 'It's good that you know how to finish and where to move,' said Alexander Lukashenko. Second, the President emphasized creating mutually beneficial industrial cooperation within the region and the country, urging to 'find economics in every detail of a light bulb.' Third, he stressed the need for gradual localization, noting that transportation costs for components can exceed the cost of the parts themselves. Finally, Lukashenko demanded strict control to prevent substandard goods from entering the domestic market. He cited cases where 6–7-watt bulbs are sold as 9-watt ones and instructed that such violations be immediately reported to relevant authorities and swiftly addressed. He emphasized that all suppliers, regardless of origin, must follow Belarusian rules and avoid unfair competition. The President tasked Gosstandart to take a principled approach to this issue. 'These are the main contours of BELZ's development strategy,' summed up the head of state.
