Lukashenko points to law enforcement 'covering up' fuel theft

“We’ve only just started the cleanup, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs has already uncovered 46 crimes. Mainly theft of components and spare parts, bribery. But topping the list is theft of fuel,” the head of state said.

Alexander Lukashenko noted this is a long-standing problem. “On my desk are the results of a recent monitoring showing that local authorities approach the eradication of thefts half-heartedly and formally. That’s why dishonest employees steal fuel and feel completely unpunished,” he emphasized.

“What’s especially outrageous is that some law enforcement officers, instead of fighting these freeloaders, collude with them and provide cover, just like in the wild 90s. Guys, you understand that we won’t allow even such petty issues to bring back the 90s,” the President stated.
