Lukashenko reviews emergency response to severe weather

The head of state was briefed on the impact of strong winds across the country on 5–6 September. It was noted that the weather did not cause serious problems. Around 280 settlements experienced power outages, all of which were restored within a day. Strong winds also caused trees to fall; emergency units were deployed for prompt cleanup. In Minsk, three children were injured when a frame tent collapsed; they received all necessary medical assistance. During the briefing, Alexander Lukashenko outlined tasks related to both responding to adverse weather and improving early forecasting to minimize potential damage. Attention was also given to coordination between the Emergency Ministry and other relevant agencies. The ministry is currently preparing for the autumn-winter period, as dropping temperatures will lead to increased use of heating systems in private homes. Due to the potential rise in residential fires, the emergency service is carrying out a range of preventive measures.
