Lukashenko: SCO Must Become Global Decision-Maker, Like Soviet Union

The head of the Belarusian state noted that attention should be paid to what Chinese President Xi Jinping said during his speech at the summit. "He said the main thing: without the SCO, there can be no movement in the world. Just as once no issue was resolved without the Soviet Union. We would like the SCO to take its place so that no one can move in the world without approval or a nod from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. That was roughly Xi Jinping's statement — that the SCO should define the prospects for peace. We have already approached this. We talk about it a lot. Our population is huge, and resources in Eurasia and SCO territories are enormous. But we have few concrete actions.

Financial and economic sanctions are imposed against SCO states. And what? Silence. The US is trying to strangle China with tariffs — a trade war. It hasn't ended. And what? Moreover, an act of aggression has been committed against an SCO member country — Iran. And what?

At least on these pressing issues, a decision should have been made. At least meet, discuss, and condemn, show our role. Unfortunately, this did not happen," said Alexander Lukashenko.
