Lukashenko Sends Condolences on Death of Basketball Legend Ivan Edeshko

Lukashenko has sent condolences over the death of legendary sports figure Ivan Edeshko.

"A remarkable athlete has left us, a player among the great Soviet champions, whose name is forever inscribed in the history of world basketball. His golden pass, which brought victory to the Soviet national team at the 1972 Olympics, became a symbol of the highest skill and will to win, inspiring generations of fans and young athletes," Lukashenko stated.

The President emphasized that in Belarus, Ivan Edeshko was known as a talented coach and wise mentor who made a significant contribution to the development and promotion of basketball and to youth education.

"His memory will always live on in our hearts."
