Lukashenko Signs Law on Amendments to Railway Transport Legislation

Alexander Lukashenko has signed the Law 'On Amendments to Laws on Railway Transport'.

The document was signed to create a modern legal framework and ensure the economy and population have access to quality, safe, and reliable railway transport services. It defines general approaches to the rights and obligations of both infrastructure owners (organizations of public railway transport) and owners of non-public railway tracks (other organizations whose production activities involve train movements and shunting operations).

The law establishes the obligation for railway track owners to maintain records, investigate, and report to the authorized body any violations of railway safety and operational regulations.

The list of individuals required to undergo mandatory medical examinations, periodic medical re-examinations, pre-trip or pre-shift medical checks, or medical assessments is expanded.

Additionally, certain types of passenger services are clarified, particularly interregional and regional services, with a new category of trains introduced—accelerated economy-class regional line trains.

The law also provides for the transfer of functions of the Paramilitary Guard to the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Department of Security.
