Lukashenko suggests rethinking car parking around Minsk residential buildings

Lukashenko suggested reconsidering what to do about the 'ocean of cars' around residential buildings in Minsk. He noted that due to the large number of vehicles, courtyards often create a 'terrible impression': 'There's a building, in front of it a square leading to the roadway — nice, beautiful. But this is rare. In other cases, it's an ocean of cars. Dirty, grimy. Not very attractive when a building is淹没in a row of these vehicles. We need to think about what to do. We can't avoid cars, but we must consider what to do with these parking areas. In front of buildings, near homes, people should still be able to breathe clean air — there should be trees, shrubs, flowers, flowerbeds, and so on.' The head of state proposed gradually freeing up residential areas and moving parking spaces farther away: 'Gradually, not tomorrow, not through bans. But move these parking lots somewhere further away. So that people, especially children and the elderly, can go out and sit on a bench. Therefore, urban improvement is a very important issue for Minsk.'
