Lukashenko urges not to drown important investment projects in bureaucracy

The head of state noted that the implementation of investment projects abroad is not proceeding as quickly as required and identified the obstacles hindering their acceleration.

"It is important to understand what is holding us back. First — our own internal sluggishness, lack of discipline, and bureaucracy. We create artificial problems for ourselves and then heroically struggle with them for months," Alexander Lukashenko said.

One example is the project to build a new cellulose plant in the Vitebsk region. "It turns out we need as many as two presidential decrees: the first to literally clear the site for construction from previous investors, the second to launch the new investment project. It does not matter whether it is one or two — just submit the proposal. Officials have been shuffling paperwork for months, and the project is not moving forward," the President stated.
