Man lost 30,000 rubles trying to pay off a non-existent loan

A 51-year-old Minsk resident first received a call allegedly from a doorphone service that tricked him into revealing an SMS code. Then scammers posed as employees of a mobile operator, the State Control Committee, and the National Bank, convincing the man that a loan had been taken out in his name. Frightened, he took out a 30,000-ruble loan from a bank and handed the money over to a fake courier. A criminal case has been opened.
