Marc Chagall's masterpiece "Over the City" comes to Belarus for the first time

Marc Chagall's masterpiece "Over the City" is coming to Belarus for the first time. Marc and Bella will hover over their native Vitebsk for two months. These long-awaited and extended exhibitions became possible thanks to final negotiations between the Ministry of Culture and the Tretyakov Gallery. Signatures under the guarantee letter were placed today. The Vitebsk Art Museum has been preparing for this event for three years. The first display of the world-famous painting will take place on the opening day of the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk, July 16. This week, the beloved figures will prepare for the flight and transportation home. Notably, "Over the City" is the third stroke from the artist's legendary triptych. It was recently announced that Chagall's "The Promenade" will continue to be exhibited at the National Art Museum until October. Never before in Belarus have both of the avant-gardist's most quoted images been displayed together.
