Merz's CDU fails to enter state parliament for first time in history

Merz's party is fighting for political survival. In Germany, the CDU led by Merz failed to enter the state parliament for the first time in history.

AfD won in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with 38.2% of the vote. SPD came second with 35.5%. In Berlin, The Left party won with 25.7%. CDU received 18.8%, losing 9.5 percentage points, AfD gained 7.2 percentage points to reach 16.3%, SPD received 12.1%, losing 6.3 percentage points.

Thus, the ruling CDU/SPD coalition lost its majority in the Berlin House of Representatives.
