Minsk man breaks neck diving into shallow lake

The incident occurred today in Pruzhany at Lake Papernya. A 32-year-old man, despite a posted prohibition, dove headfirst and hit the bottom. Rescuers pulled him from the water and handed him over to medics. He was hospitalized in intensive care with a compression fracture of three cervical vertebrae. The reason for the ban is clear: even 7 meters from shore, the lake depth is only about 1.3 meters.
