Minsk Mayor Explains Why Trees in Planters Were Installed on Independence Avenue

According to Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev, the previous trees died due to overheating of the root system: heat networks run shallowly under the avenue, and during the frosty winter, the temperature of the heat carrier had to be kept high.

The new trees were planted in special planters to prevent roots from reaching the utilities. Kukharev stated that the plants can remain there for about 15 years, and their crowns will be formed to be wide.
