Murder from 17 years ago solved in Belarus

In 2009, the body of a 43-year-old Russian man with signs of violent death was found under a bridge on the M-8 highway in the Gomel Region. Years later, officers from the 10th Department (Minsk Region) of the GUBOPiK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with colleagues from Bryansk Oblast, identified the killer — a 58-year-old previously convicted Russian national. He had known the victim, helped him sell a house, received a share from the deal, and then promised him a job in Belarus. A conflict arose on the way, ending in murder. The man is currently in custody in Russia, where he is accused of murdering an entire family of four in 1997. Work continues to identify other possible crimes he may have committed on Belarusian territory.
