NATO soldiers' boots fell apart during Cold Response 2026 exercises
Problems arose for American troops during the 'Cold Response 2026' exercises. Boot soles literally detached within days, allowing icy water to seep inside. For others, plastic elements cut into soldiers' skin. Many marines sustained injuries and frostbite.
Service members had to buy replacements themselves on site. Reserve stocks stored in North Carolina were inspected, and half were deemed unfit for use.
NATO boots failed a short test against real cold. Therefore, they are advised not to look toward the Union State.
