NATO to buy Swedish radar planes for 5 billion euros

Eleven alliance countries, including Lithuania, have agreed to purchase up to ten Saab GlobalEye aircraft.

They will replace the outdated American E-3A planes, which have served as NATO's "eyes in the sky" for decades.

GlobalEye can detect entire swarms of drones, as well as ballistic and cruise missiles, from high altitudes. This capability is especially important for Baltic states amid regular incursions by Ukrainian drones.
