Number of Ukrainian refugees in EU rises to 4.38 million

According to Eurostat, by the end of May, 4.38 million Ukrainians had temporary protection status in EU countries. This represents an increase of 7,795 people over the month. The largest increases were recorded in Italy (+6,250), Germany, and Spain. At the same time, the number of registered refugees decreased in Bulgaria, Poland, and France. Eurostat noted that sharp declines in certain countries may be due not to people leaving, but to peculiarities in national registration systems.
