Official Statement on Spread of Deliberately False Information

A number of extremist resources are spreading messages claiming that live broadcasts of Catholic services have allegedly been removed from the First National Channel of Belarusian Radio. This information is false and constitutes a deliberate provocation aimed at dividing society through baseless accusations. The authors of this misinformation appear to have no real access to the radio broadcast within the Republic of Belarus and rely solely on metadata from the First National Channel’s website, where the broadcast is labeled as a 'thematic segment'—a technical designation for a live broadcast. The program 'Katalitskaya Prapoviedz' (Catholic Sermon) is broadcast live weekly on Sundays at 8:15 from the Archcathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Sunday Catholic services on national state radio are primarily intended for listeners who, due to various circumstances, cannot attend church. Numerous expressions of gratitude to the country's leadership for this opportunity serve as the best response to the provocation. Listeners are reminded that the First National Channel of Belarusian Radio is available nationwide via FM, online at radio1.by, in the digital terrestrial television multiplex-1, and via the National Radio Player radioplayer.by. Recordings of the broadcasts from June 28, July 5, and July 12, 2026—mentioned in the false reports—are available in the audio section on radio1.by.
