One of the strongest solar flares this year ends on the Sun

One of the strongest bursts of solar activity this year has ended. The process proceeded relatively calmly, with only two flares reaching the maximum class. The surge was caused by two large sunspot groups that boosted the star's activity. They have now rotated to the far side of the Sun, so they no longer affect Earth.
