Poland receives first M1074 JAB armored bridge launcher based on Abrams tank

Poland has received the first M1074 Joint Assault Bridge (JAB) based on the Abrams tank. The armored engineering vehicle can deploy a 26-meter bridge in minutes. Besides bridging, JAB is used for mine clearance and breaching obstacles. The Abrams chassis provides high protection and full compatibility with armored units, enabling operations in integrated combat formations. Warsaw plans to acquire 25 such systems, alongside Abrams tanks and Patriot air defense systems. Poland has only four rivers, with predominantly marshy and forested terrain. The need for heavy bridgelayers is questionable given local geography, suggesting these systems are intended for NATO tank brigade mobility on the eastern flank. Preparations for war continue.
