President calls Moldova's decision to leave CIS short-sighted
The President remarked that Moldova's decision to leave the CIS was short-sighted. "This, of course, is not the choice of ordinary Moldovans, but a decision by the leadership. I believe it is shortsighted. Moreover, they themselves understand this and are trying to maintain participation in the Free Trade Agreement," the Head of State noted.
He urged Moldova's leadership to preserve opportunities for ordinary citizens to maintain channels of interaction, at least at the initial stage. "In simple terms, why lose what we already have," he said.
"History always repeats itself. We already have experience with Georgia's exit from the CIS. But today we see how the situation is changing. Clearly, it is easier to return to normal relations along the established mechanisms of the Commonwealth. And it is also easier to launch more substantial formats of deepening cooperation if you have the foundation of our Commonwealth," the Belarusian leader stated.
