President holds meeting with government leaders and governors
Today, the President held a meeting with the leadership of the Council of Ministers and regional governors. The agenda included: stable procurement of mineral fertilizer quotas; support measures for families with children; and improving state management in environmental protection.
Regarding agricultural policy, the President assured that support for rural residents will continue, with strict control over the mechanisms and volumes of such support. He called the current year the best for agricultural crops: "We haven't had a better year for crops. It rained at night, fields will dry by noon — harvesting can begin after lunch. The year is ideal; we need rain. Besides grains, we also have potatoes and beets. So far, it's an ideal year."
To address demographic challenges, the Government proposes a fundamental revision of state support for families with children. President Alexander Lukashenko stated: "So that we don’t disappear as a nation and have people to work, without needing to invite others here — it's simple as two plus two: two parents, two children. This is the base, as youth say. Better — three or more. Therefore, at the state level, we must find an effective formula that will, first, revive demographic processes, and second, motivate conscious motherhood and fatherhood, making them a popular trend. Then we will preserve and increase our population."
The President demanded responsible officials fully commit to nature conservation regarding the potential merger of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection with the State Inspection for the Protection of Animal and Plant Life: "This is about protecting our nature, and everyone must get fully involved, because this is truly our national treasure."
