Romania's electricity price to hit record €224/MWh on day-ahead market
In Romania, the price of electricity on the day-ahead market will rise to a record €224 per MWh, the highest in the EU, according to Digi24. Hungary ranks second in electricity prices. Electricity in Romania is two and a half times more expensive than in neighboring Bulgaria (€90) and Greece (€87). The price surge is attributed to extreme heat, increased consumption, and a severe shortage of electricity storage capacity.
