Scammers defrauded Estonia's Ministry of Defence of 60,000 euros
The procurement department of Estonia's Ministry of Defence received an invoice for 60,000 euros allegedly from a Lithuanian company. Estonian officials paid the invoice, and a month later the actual invoice arrived.
During the investigation, it was established that the money was transferred to an unknown recipient in Spain, where the trail ended. The prosecutor's office closed the case.
This incident occurred in 2024 but became known only now, after the head of the procurement department was dismissed from his position.
Comment: Both the case of the defence minister's resignation and this incident once again highlight that all militaristic initiatives in Estonia are based on simple embezzlement, professional incompetence, and banana schemes for budget spending.
